I'm going to and start jotting down a few thoughts about movies and shows I've recently watched. General impressions. Case one: Eden Lake. Combining Deliverance with The Strangers (or more specifically Ils), the movie doesn't add much new to the whole yuppie couple gets terrorized by kids sub-genre, but it does everything right. Minimal jump scares. Well played characters. A real sense of dread building and building. And characters never react in a particularly stupid way (i.e. not calling the cops when they should).The violence wasn't excessive. And those chilling final moments. Wow. One of the better horror movies I have seen in a while. If only it felt more original.
